An important question in the mind of every ISO9001 practitioner is the validity of certifications to ISO 9001:2000. When will the certification of ISO9001:2000 be valid till?
ISO (International Standards Organisation) had decided that:
a) One (1) year after publication of ISO 9001:2008 all accredited certifications issued (new certifications or recertifications) shall be to ISO 9001:2008.
b) Twenty four (24) months after publication by ISO of ISO 9001:2008, any existing certification issued to ISO 9001:2000 shall not be valid.
So, the ISO9001:2000 certification shall be valid until...maximum...end of year 2010. This is based on the assumption that ISO9001:2008 standard will be published by end of year 2008.
